So we all had our first Mac experience, but for me, it was also my first computing experience. I was five and it all started in front of a 9 inch monochrome display, called an Apple Macintosh 512k.

So I've set up this website for us Mac Techs at Sheridan, but I haven't fully tested out all the parts just yet. So this is first and foremost a test. But I know that we will be putting up some content at some point, so I figured what better time than now to get started. So over the next little while I will be creating a number of posts going over the history of the Macs I've owned. Then we may move onto something a bit more useful. Maybe.

So, how it all began for me.

I was five, and my father was an executive for a business forms company. They were in the market for some new computer systems, and my dad was the lucky fellow tasked with finding the right one for their business. During the day he would test out the 512k for his work related needs like database creation, page layout, number crunching, and what ever else they were doing.

But during the evenings he would bring it home and let us have at it. Now, keep in mind, I was only five at the time, so I'm not entirely certain what exact applications we were using on this particular machine. That is a topic I will cover at some other time after some quick research in my parents' basement, but this was my first intro to the Mac System and Finder, and computers in general. Unlike most my age, I started my personal computing history with a double click.

And it's been that way ever since.
